October

October was a fun month. The main fun things were a trip to the pumpkin patch and Halloween.

One Monday for Family Home Evening we decided to go to a pumpkin patch in Springville that I had heard of.  A major plus was that all the activities were free. We went just after Ked got home from work so we made it there just a little after 3, which was good because by the time we were ready to leave an hour or so later it had gotten a TON busier with all the kids being home from school and such. They had two hay mazes; one super tall for the older kids and another only a few feet high for the younger kids. Mairead had fun in both of them. They also had a little petting zoo thing (a few animals in pens), a tall pyramid of hay bales, pit of corn for the kids to play in with a few pipe slides, a hay ride pulled by a tractor, and of course pumpkins with wagons to pull around as you look for your pumpkin. Mairead loved all of it and we had fun for quite some time. We're definitely planning on going back next year, and hopefully more than once.

We had a ward Halloween party the night before Halloween where we had dinner and then the youth had put together activities for the kids to rotate through. It was a little crazy because our church is pretty small with narrow halls and doors that open out, but we had a fun time. Mairead was a ladybug, Ked was a pirate, and I wore a bunch of random brown and green clothes so that I would look autumn-y or something. On actual Halloween the next day we carved our pumpkins after Ked got home from work and then ate dinner and hung out at my Aunt's house. Mairead was a giraffe on Halloween day. Ked had been a pirate all day at work and so he was just himself for the evening and so was I. We tried to take Mairead trick-or-treating around her neighborhood but apparently we tried to early and no one opened their doors. After a few houses we went back to my Aunt's house and watched Monsters University which was really cute. By then it was just about time to go home and put Mairead to bed so we drove home and did one last trick-or-treat stop at our upstairs neighbors/landlords. Mairead got a handful of candy and we came home to a full bowl of candy that we had left on our doorstep for trick-or-treaters that we apparently didn't have. Oh, well. It was a fun time.

Now that we live in Orem . . .

We've been trying to do fun things. The first month or so we were up here and it was still warm weather we tried to to a bunch of fun things outdoors.

1. We went on a walk at Vivian Park up in Provo Canyon. Mairead loved the water (especially throwing rocks into it) and saying "Hi!" to everyone who passed by.

2. We went down around Utah Lake three times. The first time we just went on a walk and drive, but while we were driving along we noticed a little beach-y part where you could go down and play in the water. We returned there twice and Mairead LOVED it! She didn't mind that the water was a bit cold and that it was windy. In fact, we had to force her to leave the water even when her lips were turning blue from the cold. All this from the girl who screamed during baths for the first 6 months of her life. :)

This girl LOVES water!

3. We went to the Utah State Fair. We thought it would be a bit more exciting than it was, but it was fun. Mairead liked seeing the animals (although there were less than I remember in years past), but her all time favorite thing was the carousel. We decided we would let her go on one of the rides and as soon as she saw the carousel she let us know that she wanted to go on it. She was a little unsure for the first time around, but after that she loved it. She cried when the ride was over and it was time to get off, which was cute and sad at the same time.

4. We went to the museum at Thanksgiving Point during $2 Tuesdays and had a great time. Mairead likes dinosaurs and really enjoyed running around and seeing everything. It was fun.

The really cute picture I got was super blurry so here's a sub-par one with Ked making a silly face.

July and August

Life's been pretty crazy these past few months so in an attempt to keep the blog updated with our lives, here's a list of what we were up to during July and August:

1. Ked's parents came home from their mission to Scotland and Ireland. We picked them up at the airport in Salt Lake along with a bunch of his other siblings and their families. The next day we drove back down to Cedar and all lived in the house for a few weeks while Ked and I were getting everything ready to move up north because . . .

2. Ked got a job in Orem. He works as a daytime custodian at a Jr. High. It's great hours and leaves him with plenty of time to spend with us and also work on his art. :)

3. We lived in no less than four places during Ked's first month of work before finally settling into our apartment in Orem in mid-August. It was an adventure moving between Ked's parent's house, my parent's house, my Grandma's house, etc. We put a lot of miles on the car and used up a lot of minutes and texts on our phones when we weren't staying at the same place.

4. We moved!(obviously)

5. We went to a family reunion back down in Cedar the week after we moved up to Orem. It was really fun and I was able to meet Ked's brother's wife for the first time since Ked and I were married.

All in all, July and August were some pretty big and crazy months for our family. :)
